There haven't been any recent YouTube videos. I'm working flat out with finishing off a handful of novels, plus sorting out my house so I haven't even approached anyone for one of their stories to read on the channel. 

In addition to that, some of the horror community drama has been touching me (someone rather literally tried to start some with me and fuck that shit) so it may be a lot less horror themed when Story Time comes back.

I've also been thinking of some of the other film related things I had intended on doing after I graduated university. I'm not all that far away from being able to afford equipment so I may start doing other videos as well in the next year or so. 

I am at the halfway point with completing what I need to complete for 2024 before I can return to what I intended on doing in 2023 (minus large projects as all my painting and circuit bending stuff will be in storage while I sort out the dining room). To celebrate getting to this point (with only one particularly bad weekend with people either not listening and people thinking that what happens in a small part of their vast country applies to everywhere else in the world), I recorded and uploaded Necro Sutra 3 by Kevin Sweeney to Story Time.

I will post on here when I reopen to submissions. I do intend on a little break between this year's writing projects and doing what I intended to do last year. It won't be anything exciting as my money situation is recovering after last year, but I think everyone deserves a weekend in bed, binge-watching TV and ordering food delivery. But once I get that weekend, I'll reopen.

Next week will be the last Story Time for awhile. If you head on over to my blog, I've been having a right rotten year and some things need to give while I sort out all of these completely unnecessary problems that I didn't create but still have to deal with (whether it is the fallout of my employer's AI paranoia or the housing association failing repeatedly to fix the fucking roof or people who refuse to accept that their behaviour affects mine and my son's life trying to re-enter our lives, etc, etc). And I also have a novel I've been trying to finish plus various other stories and drawings. And pure and simple, I'm fucking tired and stressed. 

I'm open to someone coming in to run things while I can't. There's a lot that goes into Story Time - the videos and recording and editing, SEO, contacting authors, promo posts across social media, etc. And I know I'm not the only person having a shitty year. Unfortunately, Story Time isn't monetised so I can't pay you to do so.

Another Spooky Month story. This time, The Rape of Ivy House by Em Dehaney. I first read this story a few years ago, way back when it was released in the Sparks Anthology (I also have a story in there) and I loved it. I was instantly hooked. 

Try to pick up a print copy of this one. And we all know Em, she wrote me a beautiful rejection letter for one of my Chester and Lester stories (and here's the first Chester and Lester story). Em is an amazing author and doesn't just write some of the best rejection letters. 

I was in bed sick last week. I guess all the stress has weakened my immune system. So I didn't get to promote Haint Blue by Amanda M Lyons, which is kinda sucky considering it was one of my favourites. I try not to pick favourites but after all the erotica and extreme horror, I picked Haint Blue up and it was so pleasant. 

Amanda is one of those gems in indie horror that doesn't get the notice she deserves. Her stories are brilliant. Maybe I'm being biased because her stories are very American and more traditional horror and I'm in the UK so every time I pick up a more traditional horror story, it is set in Britain (usually England), so it was something very fresh and new for me. If you like your horror to contain less necrophilia, make sure you check out her stuff. 

I didn't get to post last week. As I just posted on my blog, I am dealing with vast amounts of traumatising incidents right now. I am doing my best. Once things settle down, I'll put up proper posts for every Story Time that doesn't get one. The videos are recorded, edited and uploaded to Youtube up to and including the 13th of October. From there, I can't promise if I'll finish Spooky Season just with everything horrible that is happening right now (happening to me, I sure as hell aren't doing this to myself and I did try to prevent two of these problems). 

But let's focus on what I've already done. We have not one but two extreme horror stories for the middle of September. So let's welcome back Kevin Sweeney with Necro Sutra 2 (I hear he's working on a third) and let's welcome for the first time Reek Feel with Pop's Golden Shower. If you aren't reading Amanda M Lyons, you really should be. I think I was too tired to do this story justice but I do better with another one of her's in a few weeks. I don't know how long we'll have her before one of the Big Five snatch her up. Once you start reading her stuff, you won't want to stop.

Witches are wonderful, witches that control your mind so you fuck a corpse are a no. Look at the release submission schedule below to see where that will fit. You can still send in any of these stories now, but put in the email what month you think it'll work best in. 

• For November I would especially like bizarro. Erotic bizarro is welcome. 
• For December I would like holiday stories, but try to limit the Christianity, Paganism and secular Xmas. I don't know how many religions have holidays that time of year, but it is a fucking lot. 
• For January I would like extreme. I'm talking the sickest fucking shit you lot can send me. It will need an age restriction. Remember, as of writing this, there is a Story Time of Necro Sutra in its entirety with Necro Sutra 2 coming up in a few weeks. 
• For February I would like erotica, erotic horror, erotic sci fi, etc. You get the general idea, make the month of love sexy AF. This will also be an age restriction month.

The Wicker Dick by Rhys Hughes. Let’s go direct to the author for information about this (Queenie swears she’s seen The Wicker Man and the remake but much like how she can’t pronounce words, her memory is shot for the same reason): Anyway, my story 'The Wicker Dick', in that anthology is a spoof of the film THE WICKER MAN. It's a comedy and a satire, a horror comedy, about two incels who travel to a mysterious island where they believe they will learn which of them is the biggest virgin (they have a bet about this). It turns out that they are judged equally virginal and therefore put inside a giant wicker dick which shoots them across the sea onto another island.
