I know I'm not the only one that finds inspirational quotes to be a shallow cop-out. I get so annoyed with people spewing them, especially when someone is having serious life problems and has acknowledged that they're having problems and need to make some changes. God forbid they put this up on social media. They get hit by a ton of inspirational quotes instead of actual help. Positive thought isn't going to fix most of these problems as most of these problems don't exist in someone's head. Thinking positive isn't going to fix them. And all the people spewing this shallow bullshit frightens away all but the boldest of people who might actually be able to offer help or at the very least a shoulder to cry on. Inspirational quotes are really just a way to silence people.
Then, lately various products I buy have inspirational quotes printed on them; my diary, my planners (I have three, including one at work that work bought for me, all three have inspirational quotes on them, can you not find a planner without inspirational quotes!?! Jeez, I just want to organise my headspace by writing down what I need to do). But now, tissue boxes. I read all the tissue boxes in the shop and found the one with the weirdest and least offensive words printed on it. Although green smoothies makes me think of some of my more disgusting books due to their green covers (hint Reptile and Broccoli, plus the original cover for Reptile was really green).
I know I keep saying that one day I will tackle this positive thought bullshit, I will eventually do it. It is going to take a lot to address, especially because how harmful this stuff is. Sitting there and doing nothing about your problems because society has told you to think positive only makes the problems worse. I have too much on right now to even begin.
But I will be adding some of this bullshit to my cut-ups. Post it on social media, especially on one of my posts, it'll join the mansplaining and the narcissistic word salad in the cut-ups.
Hopefully next week I will make it to town before the art shop shuts to get some paper for this project. Originals will go onto Etsy but I will be doing a print book of all the cards. Thinking positive isn't going to get me there on time, nor will time planning (my nails need to be soaked off and then the shellac reapplied, positive thought won't give me another fill either, before I go to town).
