Two short stories for Christmas from Dani Brown, the Queen of Filth. And yes, the dog does die at the end in both of them (plus cats in the first and racoons in the second). You won't get attached. The dog in the first isn't what it seems and Toddles in the second is hardly in there. You may have heard these stories before. The Face of God was read by Simon Bestwick for Lex Jones's Christmas Calendar 2021. Glass was read by Queenie for A Very Bizarro Christmas Ghost Story 2021 (British Bizarro Community).
Story one: The Face of God. The perfect family wait for guests that never arrive. They wait in the perfect house with the perfect decorations while perfect snow falls outside. And they wait a bit more as the layers of perfection fall away.
Story Two: Glass. Samantha has returned to her post-card perfect hometown from the big city for Christmas. There's something a bit odd about the glass decorations. All the department stores in the big city were big on plastic in bright colours that year. Everyone in town has these same decorations. She meets up with her old friends. The sinister decorations are at the barn party too.
Please enjoy the videos below, one of Queenie promoting the book. One of Queenie reading Glass and another of Simon Bestwick reading The Face of God.
