So the next page will tell you more about where the idea for this one came. I haven't done major cut-ups since The Panda Says No! that I did at university (I still need to lift the illustrations off my old Mac). I always found that working on them made my genre fiction and experimental literature better.
Hopefully when it gets down to the visual part of this, Etsy will let me change my shop's name (they haven't in the past, I don't want to be reminded of my failed business and all the stress I had in my life at that time, it has destroyed my health). I still need to order an official Queen of Filth stamp and ink pad and go buy some fancy paper (my financial situation isn't happy right now, I'm stressed out and paying off debt from a family member having a temper-tantrum on my social media which resulted in loosing a lot of freelance clients and I very nearly was evicted).
For now, I'm just focusing on visuals. This project may or may not end up with sound, either as an album or an installation.
I've been away from cut-ups for years. I had an ex way back before the #metoo movement freed me who seemed to think cut-ups were stealing other people's work (I bet some of his favourite bands use them as they're usage is more popular amongst musicians). They are about taking something pre-existing and turning it into something new. Even if I wanted to use my own text, that wouldn't be allowed because it didn't fit in with the image he wanted to construct of me and of us. I wasn't even allowed to argue my case on that one.
It really has been since university that I've tackled a major cut-up project, although I have tried, but people and their knowing better, which only caused me stress and broke my body.
