Social media can be a wonderful thing. By signing up, you agree to a particular private company's terms and conditions, which probably have a clause saying you can't threaten violence against someone. The social media AI that screens your posts, doesn't understand sarcasm.

This leaves users unable to say, "such and such a person should be taken to a field and shot". It is as annoying as my ginger cat climbing all over me as I try to type this. But you can say, "should be taken to a field" and let whoever is reading the post fill in the blank.

But why stop at shooting someone? A field can be filled with all sorts of dangers. And then, do you really need a reason to take someone to a field? The people that typically need to be taken to a field don't have generally have a reason for their bullying. And they're super cult like.

My story is a twisted tale of revenge. A man takes inappropriate photos of his girlfriends without their consent. The stress of having photos they don't want out in the world ruins the lives of these women, but his parents step in to offer employment. But payback can be a bitch.

Way back in February, I had a story titled Nel's Yard published in Head Blown Too.

This is a very British story in an American publication. The mum is completely obsessed with the USA in the 1950s to the point she named her children Jimmy and Karen. And she finds this unusual house with a flat level basement filled with 1950s stuff and purchases the house, contents included. The father has no say in anything. But there's more than American collectables in that basement. 
It is titled The House of Tomorrow and was published yesterday. 

And if you are interested in quicksand, google Crosby Beach quicksand or read this article from the Echo. Another big risk of being caught in quicksand (this doesn't actually form a big part of my story, I just made a passing comment to quicksand warning signs on beaches) is having your trousers, boots, socks and undergarments suctioned away by it and hypothermia. Here's information about the Lifeboats and a facebook page for the coast guard. And if you are interested in visiting the beach on a trip to Liverpool, this one has dunes and I haven't heard of quicksand on it (it doesn't mean it isn't there though). I might end up writing a story about quicksand. 

So those kind folks over at the Future of Sex asked for my views on the future of sex. Or how people will be getting it on in the year 2040 and they actually published this. And you can read that here.

This is where everyone realises that in addition to listening to far too much Coil, I read far too much Clive Barker. This story is a bit weird for other reasons. One of my friends read Something Borrowed, Something Blue and asked me to write a gay one stating that the world needs more queer erotica. I shrugged and said okay, immediately thinking of a story I was working on. There were peacock's in my original draft, but it was set in a forest (possibly the Forest of the Dead) and it was straight. It wasn't really working like that though. I'm sure I will have an erotic story set in the Forest of the Dead at some point, but not now. 

It is set entirely in a club/bath house called "Peacock's Pleasure Palace". I can't remember if this made it into the final cut of the story, but the club is owned by a person named "Peacock". And the club is filled with peacocks and human-peacock hybrids.

It is just a nice story about consciousness uploading and love being forever. I know you don't really think of the Queen of Filth as writing nice things ever, but it does happen from time to time.

Dani Brown did have a handful of short stories published in 2023. Due to them being so few in numbers and it only being February 2024, she thought she'd list these first, but all on the same page. She apologises in advance if she misses one or gets the date of release messed up. She is not going to go further back than last year though. 

The first short to be published in 2023 came in June. It was Hack the Future and released in Unthinkable Tales Five. Dani absolutely loves this story. The idea came upon seeing a lot of images spat out by generative AI circulating facebook and all their extra fingers. It is an erotic one though. A lonely old artist (who now makes a living erasing watermarks from images spewed out by AI, sometimes even his own) builds his dream woman based on a singer he fancied as a young man. You can view Dani reading Hack the Future and all the other stories from Unthinkable Tales Five on her Story Time Youtube Channel (she promises more Story Time later on in the year, she's a bit busy right now). If you like Hack the Future, you really want to read 56 Seconds. 

The second short story in 2023 was possibly released in August in Nursery Stories For Dumb Crotch Goblins. Because the title of the anthology was such a mouthful (that's not even the full title typed out there), she titled her story Queenie's Nursery Rhymes for Shit Heads, Pervs and Shit-Fuckers and sent that to their blind submissions. If you like Shit Head, Pervs and Shit-Fuckers, try the Stef and Tucker Series (there will be a sixth one in 2024). 

And finally, in late 2023, another erotic story, this one erotic horror was released in Juicy Bits. The title of the story is In Love's Secret Domain and it is pretty obvious from it that she listens to far too much Coil. As with Hack the Future, if you like this one, you want to read 56 Seconds.
