When I'm drawing I either watch TV or listen to a podcast. Readers of mine will like this podcast if you haven't discovered it already. Marian (she's reviewed some of my books before so you might be familiar with her TikTok @tf_did_i_just_read) and Christina have their very own podcast. I'm a bit behind on episodes with everything that has been going on (if you follow my social media you will see that last night was the first time I've posted a drawing in months) but this week's has Drew from godless. It is available on the usual podcast channels but here's the youtube...
And here's what I was drawing last night. I don't know what medieval manuscript illustration influenced it. I found a sketch in my sketchbook of a ballsack in a hat and thought it would be fun. In other news, I have found some drawings ready to go up on redbubble and will try to see to those during the week.

If you follow my social media you will know I did not give the house a good top to bottom clean during the last Mercury retrograde. Although I don't strictly believe in astrology I do find it simplifies my life and Mercury retrograde is a brilliant time to schedule the big seasonal cleaning. With my new job starting soon the next Mercury retrograde isn't looking too promising either. So that means I need to get the house clean this weekend. It is dusty in here. I won't be doing the front room until Monday. My son's Playstation is in there and he spent most of half term sick with a (non-COVID) cold. I also won't be doing the top of the kitchen cupboards this time around (which saves hours) as the housing association have phoned stating I am getting a new kitchen. Due to the new job starting soon they have kindly moved me down to the bottom of the list for this group of new kitchens but it will still happen before the end of the year. I will have to find time in the spring to do the outside. Every spring it needs to be done. It is worse this year. Apart from having to uproot my rose bushes that did not survive last spring (I was hoping they'd bounce back) a few stray pigeons and their baby have decided to move in. Pigeons are messy if you don't have any experience with them (they also smell real bad but I have been unable to catch these ones). There's pigeon shit everywhere. And where I've thrown seed down some of it has taken root between the paving slabs. Then there's all the debris that has blown in over the autumn, winter and we still have spring to go. It is an absolute state out there. My last massive computer task will probably have to wait until Thursday. At least if I finish cleaning the front room early on Monday I can work on Snow White and can work on it between the day job Tuesday and Wednesday as there just isn't time to start a new task until later on in the week. PS I am fully aware of what is going on in the world. There is no need to inform me (or shout your opinions at me as if they are fact). I do not comment on these sorts of things. I have better things to do than argue with people online. To keep up with my cleaning follow my social media. I named this one stinky. It was my intention to catch them and see if the owners wanted them back or have them re-homed.this one is named smelly. I think she's a pakistani high flyer, but i'm not sure.this one is martin. He might possibly be martina. it is difficult to tell with pigeons to begin with and martin is still really young.I have reformatted all the JEA books I am putting out again, except Night of the Penguins because as mentioned yesterday all 100k of it needs another going over. That'll be along later on in the year. As of today, it is still available on amazon. That's Ketamine Addicted Pandas, Reptile, Dark Roast and The Previous Plastic Surgeon. On amazon all I have to do is hit publish. For godless I need to convert the files but I will do that just before I send them off.
I have one more big computer task and I have to clean the house before I can return to Snow White. And while I was sleeping my fundraiser for work clothes exceeded its goal. In about an hour I'm heading to meet a friend who has some old clothes for me that will hopefully fit. I am nearly done with the big projects I need to do before I start my new job. I still have to clean the house though before I can return to Snow White (at this stage I won't be sharing my playlist with anyone because I'm only listening to the same two bands and it'll totally give away what is going on in the story).
I have formatted Dark Roast and The Previous Plastic Surgeon (from Dual Depravity), both of these have new (if crappy) covers. I am going for a very basic cover design to keep them like Stara which I re-issued myself last year. Reptile and Ketamine Addicted Pandas are also formatted and waiting for new covers (that's my plan for tomorrow). In regards to Night of the Penguins, I will be re-issuing it but later on in the year. When it was first published despite at least two rounds of edits some readers contacted me to say there were some issues with it so I'm going to go through it again. All 100k of it and see what I can do. I think it was just the beginning that had the issue. That poor book was written over several years between bouts of drama and sometimes while the drama was going on. I actually started it before I started Broccoli. So I'm sure these readers have a point. The book is too good to not republish. As of writing this, Night of the Penguins is still available on amazon. And JEA plan on keeping the Audible up. Bring on me cleaning the house and doing some of the tasks I need to do prior to starting my new job. I'm also going to have to go shopping as I put on a bit of weight and my old smart causal clothes don't fit right now. If you're interested in helping me with new clothes you can donate to my fundraiser, dump money in my paypal (via Ko-Fi) or if you happen to have size 16 smart causal clothes that you no longer want and live local to me I will be forever grateful. I will be picking up some clothes from a friend tomorrow. But I still need trousers and a top (my pony top no longer fits). I'm good for shoes for a few months at least and for make up for at least one month. I'm sure I'll survive filing my nails myself and keeping them plain for the first few months of my dream job (until my clothing situation is completely sorted and my son has what he needs and I've worked out a budget). The housing association is going to phone on Thursday. Hopefully I won't need a fundraiser for groceries and bills for that first month of employment. They're going to go through everything with me. I've been living hand-to-month for so long and I'm so excited to finally be moving forward with my life, however, I had just been looking for freelance and work from home pay per order jobs when I saw the dream job so I hadn't prepared myself from going from self employed to full time employment. I spent hours yesterday making this website look pretty, easier to navigate and easier for me to upload things. I meant to do this during lockdown but never found the time.
Today I will start preparing my JEA books to be released back to me. JEA have been a great publisher and in their fashion are letting us keep the covers and editing. As Stara was originally with a publisher and I did a simple cover when I reissued it, I want to keep every book that I reissue with that theme of a simple cover. It allows some distinction between the first and second editions. Plus I need to reformat the books. As this is a large project (and as of last night only Reptile and Dual Depravity weren't available any longer) I want to have everything ready to be released before I start my new job. I also have stuff to prepare for the new job and a house that needs a major cleaning so it doesn't end up in the state it was in (it took me 11 months to clean it after society changed!). I spent all day and night making this website more user-friendly and easier for me to update with my new job starting soon.
